Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) is the largest University in Greece, with 12 faculties and 45 Departments. Informatics Department (http://www.csd.auth.gr) hosts approximately 35 faculty, research and teaching staff members, 1000 undergraduate, more than 100 M.Sc. and 75 Ph.D. students. The Department is highly research oriented with an overall rate of more than 250 publications per year, 131 Ph.D. graduates in the last six years, and a participation in over 200 research projects with a total funding received of about 15 MEuros in the last 10 years.

Datalab – Data and Web Science Lab (http://datalab.csd.auth.gr) at the AUTH at the Department of Informatics, has extensive expertise in the areas of massive data management, data mining and knowledge discovery, graph management and mining, distributed and massively parallel systems to support data science, infometrics, sentiment analytics, theory and bioinformatics.  Datalab mission is to advance state of the art research and to contribute in high quality research and innovation. Datalab has strong experience in research and innovation actions and can offer top-quality consulting, and advanced research and development services for any data and Web science projects. Datalab is the merger of the former Data Engineering Lab – Delab and the OSWINDS research groups, forming a strong team of faculty, post-docs, phd students, researchers, and developers. Datalab is an active research group engaged in research and development activities in the areas of ICT technologies and their implementations, with additional interest on multi-disciplinary synergies. The group is involved in research and experimentation with a focus on big data analytics, social network mining and phenomena detection, sentiment analytics and affective computing, as well as on open distributed data platforms on the cloud. Datalab specializes in a broad range of data management topics.
